The Face of a Foster Graduate Campaign

This campaign is a series of postings that feature life and success stories of former foster care children. Each posting  features a different graduate’s story and photos. The reason behind the creation of this campaign is 3 fold:

1) Offer inspiration to children in the system

Show current foster care children that there are others like them that they can identify with and hopefully see as a source of inspiration.  Let them see the faces of others who used to be in foster care and now are productive and successful members of society.  No one understands what they are going through better than a foster care graduate.

2) Change negative public perceptions

Work towards changing the negative stereo type that society has placed on foster care children, showing off the fact that while these foster care alumni started out facing more challenges than most, they are still capable of becoming productive members of society.

3) Remove the shame and negative stigma carried by many former foster care alumni

Overcoming the adversities of life in foster care is something that should be celebrated, featured, respected and shared!  An estimated 12 million former foster care children live in the United States and many function as productive members of society.  The larger part of this group remains silent about their pasts, and many still carry a sense of shame or negative stigma due to their childhood experiences.  We hope to change this mindset and turn negative perceptions upside down!

This amazing campaign was officially kicked off with a national postcard mailing that carried our message of hope, inspiration and celebration.  This marketing piece went out to associations all over the country that work with foster care children and/or alumni.
