Well appreciated praise!

This writing was sent to me by a former foster care alumni.  I feel so honored to have received it that I wanted to share it.  Thanks to John, the Author for sending!

New Path

26 April 2009

The path that I have had to traverse may have been a very difficult road to travel, but when you decide to follow it the road will not be so treacherous.

C.J. MacKechnie

The inspiration came from thinking about you and what you are doing on www.fostercareinamerica.com.
Then I received a tweet as my head was in that waiting to write mode. CITYSPUR tweet
“Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

That is so much what you are doing. While the whole world seems to focus on those bad and criminal foster kids and here is the stats to prove it. You are starting something positive. You are starting something even though small like a mustard seed. Will grow into something. What it will be only you can see within your own mind.

The Face of a Foster Care Graduate Campaign-Postcard Mailing

October 10, 2008

The Face of a Foster Care Graduate Campaign is officially launched. A postcard (shown below) went out to associations all over the country that work with foster care children and/or alumni. The postcard, hopefully will inspire former foster care children (alumni) to submit their story and photo. It is our hope that we will receive enough content to allow us to post a new Face of a Foster Care Graduate each week.

New Inspirational Website for Foster Care Children and Alumni

September 14, 2008

I am proud to post this announcement about a new website; “FosterCareInAmerica.com,” created to serve a very special purpose. My name is Jennifer Flamini and I am one of over 12 million adults who have graduated out of the system. The goal of this site is to feature graduates of foster care, who despite the adversities of growing up in the system went on to become successful, productive members of society. This site will provide an environment that celebrates and promotes these individuals while at the same time, serve as a source of inspiration, giving current foster care children the hope that so many of us didn’t have. These children need role models they can identify with, to know that they are not alone, and to see just how many of us are out here in the world. That feeling of not belonging is a constant in the lives of foster children. We can give them something that no one else can offer and that is the message that you are not alone. Please help pass the word and visit “fostercareinamerica.com” for complete details.
